Viking Range and Refrigerator Maintenance

Viking Professional ranges and refrigeration are built heavy and meant to last. Keeping the burners, oven, and cooling system clean is what keeps them performing. Here is the Viking maintenance our Highlands Ranch technicians recommend.

Professional dual-fuel range service

Viking made its name on commercial-style ranges, and the same robust design that makes them last also means the maintenance is straightforward: keep burners and igniters clean, watch the oven's calibration, and treat the refrigeration like the built-in it is. Do that and a Viking runs for a very long time.

The Units This Covers

Viking Professional 5-Series and 7-Series ranges, VGIC and VGSC gas ranges and rangetops, and Viking built-in and professional refrigeration.

Range and Oven

  • Clean sealed burner caps and the igniter area so each burner lights promptly and cleanly.
  • Check the oven against a separate thermometer; Viking ovens can be recalibrated if they drift.
  • Inspect the oven door gasket and hinges so the door closes tight for even baking.
  • Confirm burners were adjusted for altitude to avoid a lazy flame in Highlands Ranch.

Refrigeration

  • Vacuum the condenser twice a year, more with pets, to keep the compressor from overworking.
  • Wipe and inspect door gaskets, which dry-crack in Front Range winters.
  • Change the water filter on dispenser and ice-maker models on schedule.

Viking does not use numbered fault codes. Viking ranges and refrigeration signal problems through behavior rather than a numbered code display, so diagnosis is by symptom and measurement. A separate oven thermometer is your best early-warning tool.

When to Call

An oven that will not heat, a burner that will not light after cleaning, or refrigeration that warms needs a technician. See our oven-not-heating guide and refrigerator guide for the usual causes and fixes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Recalibrate a Viking Oven?
Many Viking ovens allow a temperature offset adjustment through the control, but the right first step is to confirm the drift with a separate oven thermometer. If the oven is genuinely off and calibration does not hold, the temperature sensor or a bake element usually needs testing.
Why Won't My Viking Burner Light?
After spillover, the igniter and burner cap are often fouled or wet, or the cap is out of position. Clean and dry both and re-seat the cap. If a burner still will not light with a good spark or flame at the others, the igniter or spark module needs service.
Does Viking Use Error Codes?
No. Viking ranges and refrigeration do not display numbered fault codes the way some brands do. They show problems through behavior, so we diagnose by symptom and direct measurement rather than reading a code off the panel.
